CEBU, Philippines - An old woman believed to be in her 50s was already dead when medics arrived to her rescue near a market in Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City Friday morning.
The woman was identified as Liza Durado, a native of Daanbantayan, Cebu.According to Police Officer Jomar Florentino of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office-Homicide Section, a certain Mark Ian Cuizon, 40-year-old laborer in the market and a resident of Sitio Humay-humay in Barangay Basak, saw Durado lying on the street gasping for air. She was said to be extremely salivating.
Cuizon decided to help the old woman stay at the side of the road where he thought she would be safe. But by the time the woman was transferred to the area, she then collapsed.
Cuizon immediately asked for help. The responding medical team rushed Durado to the Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital where she was proclaimed dead on arrival.
Police said Durado would roam around as a mendicant and had no relatives in the city. (FREEMAN)
