CEBU, Philippines - A total of 12 police personnel received recognition from Police Regional Office-7 director Police Chief Superintendent Prudencio "Tom" Bañas yesterday morning during his command visit at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.

A "Medalya ng Papuri" was given to Police Senior Inspector Rogelio Pineda Jr., Police Officer 1 Sheryl Abanes and Police Officer 2 Joevelito Sismar of LCPO-Cebu Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group for conducting buy-bust operation last June 6 that resulted to the arrest of Aprillyn Rolea and the seizure of P1.3 million worth of illegal drugs.

Bañas also awarded Police Superintendent Virgil Ranes of LCPO's Task Force Kalikasan together with Police Officers Brandon Marana, Joseph Casinillo, Neil Solana, Saturnino Inoc, Jason Tiro and Junlie Bunado intercepting shark meat contraband last month.

Police Officer Brian Lou Guillen was also acknowledged for competing in the Southeast Asia's longest race, the 280K ultramarathon, from Santander to Daanbantayan where he was hailed as champion of the event.

With the efforts made by the city police in maintaining peace and order of the town, the regional director commended LCPO's men and women in uniform for their steadfast commitment in performing their responsibilities and duties as law enforcers.

"Crime prevention and public safety should be on top of their priority rather than personal desires and you should work without seeking individual rewards and applause," he told the officers.

Bañas also commended Acting Police Director Superintendent Armando Radoc for his determination in preserving the peace and order in the city.

He was also thankful to the Oponganons, the city government, business community and other stakeholders for maintaining their battlecry for peace and national development.

Bañas assumed his post last May 8 as the new regional director in Central Visayas, replacing Chief Superintendent Danilo Constantino who now serves as the head of the PNP Directorate for Police Community Relations in Camp Crame. — (FREEMAN)
