CEBU, Philippines - A man who was suffering from a nervous breakdown stabbed and killed himself with the use of scissors past midnight yesterday.
Danny Silawan, 34, was already dead and still holding a pair of scissors in his right hand when the police came to respond to the alarm.
He was found lifeless in a vacant room of a neighbor's house in Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City.
Police found Silawan inside a room owned by Arcadio Tiok blooded with two open stab wounds in his neck.
Police's initial investigation revealed that moments prior to the incident, some neighbors noticed Silawan hurriedly entering a vacant room in Tiok's house. Silawan reportedly shouted that somebody was out to kill him.
Scared that Silawan might harm them, the family decided to just stay outside the house and called for police assistance.
But just as the police could arrive, they already heard the victim struggling and shouting but none dared to go inside the house for fear, not until the elements of Mactan Police Station arrived.
Upon the course of investigation, the sister of Silawan, identified as Shennel, came after she was informed of the incident. She identified Silawan as her brother.
It was learned that Silawan was suffering from a nervous breakdown and had once attempted suicide a few weeks ago.
Police had brought Silawan's cadaver to a funeral parlor and subjected it for autopsy to determine the real cause of his death and to find out if there was foul play on his death. (FREEMAN)
