Mall asked to submit drainage, traffic plan
CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City council has directed a shopping mall to submit their drainage plan and traffic plan for the council's review and information.
In a resolution No. 2014-27-9 sponsored by City Councilor Valeriano Ylanan and co-authored by Councilor Aldin Diaz, they requested the general manager of Communities Cebu, Inc. — Vistaland in Barangay Lawaan I to present their plan to address all the concerns surrounding the area, especially on the possible flooding and traffic in the area once the business will open.
"It is one of the requirements to be studied and looked into before opening a mall," the resolution read.
According to Ylanan, he noticed that the traffic congestion within the area of Star Mall is getting worse and it is foreseen that it will be much worse when Star Mall would start to open for business.
Ylanan also said that during rainy season, it has been perceived that the water in the drainage system would overflow.
According to the Department of Public Ways and Highways, the drainage piping system along the South Road Properties is not sufficient enough to contain or handle the water especially when Star Mall would start opening to the public.
The development project's building permit was approved in March 2014. (FREEMAN)
