Pagcor to support education initiatives in Mandaue

CEBU, Philippines -  The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation will continue its support to the city government of Mandaue, especially in addressing the lack of classrooms and providing quality education to the public elementary and high school students.

PAGCOR Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Cristino Naquiat, Jr. made the assurance to Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes during his visit in the city over the weekend.

Naquiat also attended the inauguration of the newly-completed six-classroom building at Tingub National High School in Barangay Tingub.

Naquiat said  PAGCOR will continue its support to the administration of Mayor Jonas Cortes especially on needs related to education.

According to Naquiat, the donation of the six classroom building will benefit the more than 200 high school students at Tingub National High School.

Aside from donating classroom buildings, he also announced that PAGCOR is closely coordinating with the Department of Education for the implementation of program related to information and technology.

He said the elementary students in Mandaue City will also benefit the program once it is implemented.

For his part, Mayor Cortes said he was happy with the support of PAGCOR to the city government, especially in providing good quality education to the students.

Cortes said education is one of the top priorities under his administration.

The city mayor said Mandaue City was badly affected when earthquake hit Cebu and damaged a number of school buildings.

He further cited the important of public-private partnership in the implementation of programs related to education.

Cortes acknowledged the support and cooperation of the private sector in constructing more classrooms in Mandaue City. (FREEMAN)
