Shooting ensues after game brawl
CEBU, Philippines - A man was shot with an unidentified caliber of firearm Saturday afternoon after having a fist fight in the corner of Indiana Aerospace University in Sitio Kagudoy, Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.
The suspect was identified as Rey Lester Igot, 21, who is a resident of Sitio Kauswagan, Barangay Bankal while the victim was named Eugene Abing, 29, who lives in Sitio Bagumbayan, Barangay Maribago.
Based on initial investigation of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office - Homicide Section, the incident happened at 3:30 p.m. Prior to the shooting, Abing, together with his friends, was playing basketball with Igot and his groupmates Alejo Pancho Jr. and Mark Andrew Carlon.
In the middle of the game, a disagreement ensued between Abing and the suspect's friend Pancho but they were pacified by the school's security guard on duty. When the game ended, Abing's group was outside the gate at the corner of the school when another argument started between the victim and Igot which led to a fist fight.
Igot, without hesitation, reportedly pulled out an unidentified firearm and shot Abing in the lower portion of his back. The victim was immediately brought to the Mactan Doctor's Hospital for further medical treatment.
Meanwhile, Igot surrendered himself to the LCPO Station 5 with his friends, Pancho and Carlon. (FREEMAN)
