Dead body found

CEBU, Philippines - Early morning Sunday, a dead body was found lying on a grassy footpath in Sitio San Roque, Barangay Lamac, Consolacion.

Police identified the victim, through the voter's ID found in his wallet, as Henry Hayag, 39, a native of  Poblacion Occidental, Compostela and presently residing in Barangay Ibabao, Mandaue City.

Initial investigation said nearby residents heard loud bursts on Saturday evening and thought they were just firecrackers.

The following day, a resident named Primo Formentera was on his way to his secluded shanty when he saw the victim lying dead on the ground. Formentera immediately went back and called the police.

Personnel of the Crime Scene Investigation declared that Hayag died due to several gunshot wounds in his face.

Recovered from the crime scene were five empty shells of .45 caliber pistol, wallet owned by the victim and a blue lighter.

The body of the victim is now housed at Maturan Funeral Homes subject for autopsy.  (FREEMAN)
