Lapu monitors garbage disposal

CEBU, Philippines - The subdivisions' disposal of garbage in Lapu-Lapu City is being closely monitored by the City Solid Waste Management Office.

While some of the subdivisions officers and members made an arrangement with the barangay officials to collect their garbage, others are hiring a private firm to collect their trash.

However, one of the problems encountered with hiring private firms is absence of feasible an area where they can dump the garbage they collected.

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza directed all barangay captains to closely monitor the dumping of garbage in their respective places.

This, as the City Solid Waste Management Office will issue citation tickets to violators.

Radaza admitted that the improper dumping of garbage is a big blow to the clean and green program of the city government.

Mayor Radaza said barangay officials play an important role for the success of the campaign. (FREEMAN)
