Hundreds join int’l shooting tilt in Lapu

CEBU, Philippines - About 570 shooters, 54 of them coming from other countries, are participating in the three-day Asia-Pacific Glock Invitational International Shooting Competition that formally opened yesterday at the Cebu Pistol and Rifle Association Firing Range in Barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City.

The three-day competition is the qualifying event for the World Shoot XVII which will be held in Florida, USA.

The qualifieriers will automatically form part of the Philippine National Shooting Team which will be competing in the world championships this coming October.

KC Eusebio and Tori Nonaka, both from Team USA served as glock clinic instructors of the three day-event organized by Cebu Pistol and Rifle Association headed by its president Albert "Bing" Y. Lim.

Cebu Pistol and Rifle Association is the biggest and oldest gun club in the country based in Lapu-Lapu City.

The activity was also attended by Sven De Souter, marketing director of Glock Asia-Pacific, and Joy Gutierrez-Jose, director for sales and operations of Trust Trade.

Waterfront Police Station Chief  Insp. Wildemar Tiu, who also serves as range officer, said these international events bring honor to CPRA and Cebu in general, citing a number of visitors attending the competition.

The awarding ceremony was scheduled on March 23, 2014 at Tambuli Beach Club in Barangay Buyong, Lapu-Lapu City.
