Olango hospital granted P10M

CEBU, Philippines - The upgrading of the city-operated hospital in Olango Island, Lapu-Lapu City will soon move inch closer to getting realized with the allocation of P10 million from the central office of the Department of Health.

Lapu-Lapu City Health Officer Dr. Rodolfo Berame informed members of the city council that the city has been the recipient of the said grant from the DOH under the Government Health Facility Upgrading Project this year.

Berame said that the beneficiary of  the funds will be the Santa Rosa Community Hospital in Olango Island.

Although the fund is readily available, Berame said there is a need for a memorandum of agreement to be signed as basis for the release of funds.

To this end, Berame asked members of the city council to authorize Mayor Paz Radaza to accept the funds on behalf of the city government of Lapu-Lapu.

According to Berame, about P7 million was also released by the DOH to the same hospital last year, which was used in the construction of its building.

He further said that the release of  the new funds this year will help improve the services of the Santa Rosa Community Hospital for Olango Island residents.

The hospital in Olango Island will serve the residents in eight barangays and three neighboring islet barangays of  Lapu-Lapu City. (FREEMAN)
