CEBU, Philippines - An ex-convict who had been tagged responsible for several shooting and robbery incidents in southern Metro Cebu was arrested by the San Fernando Police in Barangay Sangat.

Angelito Amance, 18, was arrested at his residence in a hot pursuit operation after he figured in shooting of a barangay tanod and two other people in Barangay Balud Friday evening.

Recovered from him were two small packets of shabu, a .38 revolver with four bullets and two empty shells, as well as three assorted cellular phones.

Police Chief Insp. Sara Jean Recla said that Amance was supposed to victimize someone in Barangay Balud when he was caught by a barangay tanod whom he fired at, but missed. Amance also reportedly fired at a father and a daughter nearby.

Recla explained that Amance's modus was to flag down a motorcycle-for-hire and to ask to be transported to a secluded area where he then robs his victim.

"Notado na gyud ni silang manulisay diha, unya identified na gyud ni sila. Ang amoa lang ang pag-arresto karon na-timingan na gyud," Recla told The FREEMAN.

Recla further said that Amance was jailed for violation of R.A. 8294 or illegal possession of firearms but was released from jail February 4 after the case was dismissed when the complainant refused to pursue the same.  (FREEMAN)
