CEBU, Philippines - What are those 7,000 sacks of pebbles doing at the compound of the Talisay City Hall?
Mayor Johnny De los Reyes told reporters yesterday that the sacks of pebbles came from Mindanao and are owned by a businessman who is a friend of his family.
He said the businessman had asked him to accommodate the sacks and promised to pay P14,000 a week for the space.
The mayor said the sacks are slowly being moved to other places because the contract has already expired.
De los Reyes did not name the businessman.
On other hand, Councilor Antonio Bacaltos, Jr., chairman on the committee of environment, told The Freeman he will check whether the pebbles were confiscated from illegal haulers. (FREEMAN)
