Woman hacked

CEBU, Philippines - A 50-year-old woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition after getting hacked Thursday evening in barangay Casili, Mandaue City by a 24-year-old man whose parents work at the woman’s furniture shop.

Rose Mila Cantago, of Villarita Subdivision in barangay Sak-Sak, Consolacion town, was rushed to North General Hospital for hack wounds in the face and left shoulder.

That night, Cantago was arguing with the couple when the son attacked her.

Police identified the suspect as Franklin Jumao-as, 24, single, son of couple Dionisio and Nonem Jumao-as.

Police said that moments prior to the incident, Cantago went to the couple’s residence and confronted them about their work.

While arguing, the son, armed with a bolo, suddenly appeared, and struck Cantago, hitting her face and shoulder.

The attack apparently took the couple by surprise but Dionisio Jumao-as pacified his son and later took Cantago to hospital.

Jumao-as the attacker fled after the incident.

Charges for attempted homicide are being readied against Jumao-as. (FREEMAN)
