City councilor seeks hike in seminar fee
CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City Councilor Emmarie “Lolypop†Ouano-Dizon is proposing to raise the pre-marriage counseling seminar fee from P27.50 to P100.
Ouano-Dizon in her draft ordinance amending ordinance No. 99/051 wants the pre-marriage counseling seminar fee for marriage applicants to be at par with other highly urbanized cities in the province.
She said at present the city government charges P27.50, which she describes as a diminutive amount compared to fees charged by other highly urbanized cities.
She also noted that the fees collected by the city for the conduct of the pre-marriage counseling seminar was not reflected in the revenue code of the city and in order for the new charges to become valid and legal it must be explicitly written in the revenue code of the city.
Ouano-Dizon’s draft ordinance was approved on first reading last Wednesday. (FREEMAN)
