Naga celebrates “Dagitab” festival

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -  Its dazzling lights and synchronized moves helped the Professionals Academy of the Philippines (PAP) emerge Monday as the top placer in the 6th Dagitab Festival in Naga City.

PAP received P50,000 and a trophy. Runners up, Uling National High School (first) and Tuyan National High School (second) bagged the P40,000 and P30,000 cash prizes.

The three groups were top winners in the festival’s ritual showdown, besting eight other contingents.

Mayor Valdemar Chiong said the festival showcases the students’ many talents as well as promote Naga as a “city of lights.”

The word “dagitab” means lights, of which the city is known for because of the presence of power plants.

In the street competition, Uling National High School won the first prize, while Tuyan National High School and Balirong National High School came in second and third, respectively.

Uling also won in the mini float contest, while PAP and Balirong NHS came in second and third, respectively.

In the Christmas Belen contest, Salcon Power Corporation came in first; Department of Education-Naga Division was second, and Cemex Phils., third.  (FREEMAN)
