CEBU, Philippines - At least 1,900 households from 22 barangays in Talisay City will each receive from the Department of Social Welfare and Development P500 as health grant and P300 as educational grant for each child below 15 years old.
City social welfare officer Felipa Solana said the DSWD will distribute some P4.5 million in capital assistance to Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries tomorrow at the covered court in barangay Poblacion from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Information officer Vince Monterde said through the Pantawid program poor families are now able to send their children to school and provide their basic school needs.
The livelihood training, which are incorporated in the program, also empowers the people to find jobs and generate income.
The households were assessed using the social welfare indicator (SWI) where potential beneficiaries will undergo the prominence test after the household assessment for further evaluation.
Household assessment comes in three levels - the survival level, subsistence level, and self-sufficient level which evaluate the potential beneficiary’s economic sufficiency.
Solana said the 4Ps has developed a system to organize the implementation, systematically address the issues, and ensure that program objectives are met. (FREEMAN)
