CEBU, Philippines - Northwestern Christian University, a university in Florida, USA, has conferred Honoris Causa in Doctor of Humanities and Doctor of Philosophy in Transformational Leadership respectively on Provincial Board Member Thadeo Ouano and Dr. Paulus Cañete, the president of Mandaue City College.
Held at MCC Basak, Mandaue City campus, the conferment was attended by Bishop Seth Lagunda, president of Northwestern Christian University, and Bishop Howard Sarkela, founder of NCU, Florida, U.S.A.
Ouano said he is delighted to receive the Honorary Doctorate Degree, since it took an outsider (a foreign educational institution) to recognize his achievements, especially as a public servant.
He said most of his achievements cited were made during his term as city mayor of Mandaue in 1998 to 2007.
Ouano is now on his second term as PB member representing the sixth congressional district.
Cañete, who obtained three doctorate degrees, described his conferment of the Honoris Causa in Doctor of Humanities as a distinct privilege and honor, despite criticisms and rejection from the city government of Mandaue. — (FREEMAN)
