CEBU, Philippines - A member of a notorious robbery group that operates in Mandaue City was arrested Friday evening at sitio Lourdes in barangay Jagobiao Mandaue City.
The suspect was identified as Romeo Mejias, Jr., 27, of sitio Sto. Rosario in barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City and an alleged member of the Pati robbery group.
The group was led by Teresitio Reagan Ligan alias “Pat†who was killed by his own brother who is a policeman two weeks ago.
Mejias was arrested by operatives of the Investigation and Detective Management Bureau (IDMB) after getting tipped off by a concerned citizen who reported an armed person in the area.
When the police arrived, they saw a man displaying his gun, a .38 caliber revolver.
Mejias is detained at the Basak police station.
Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man was arrested for allegedly possessing a firearm in violation of the election gun ban in barangay Pagsabungan, Mandaue City past Friday midnight.
Arrested by men from the Basak police station led by chief Senior Insp. Genilo Veraque was Jetlee Patayan, a resident of Purok Malaumon, barangay Tingub, Mandaue City.
SPO1 Gregorio Cabisares said a concerned citizen called the police station and reported about an armed man seen outside a videoke bar in Sector 7, barangay Pagsabungan.
Seized from him was a loaded .38 caliber revolver.
Patayan is presently detained at the Basak police station. (FREEMAN)
