Without PDAF, Samsam programs in the balance

Brenda Batuto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - If the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) were abolished, first district Representative Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr. hopes the national government can come up with ways to help local governments carry out projects through other means.

Gullas agrees with the call for ending the PDAF, if this has been abused.

“A congressman, especially a neophyte, dapat naa gyu’y ikapakita. Pero kung mao nay sugo sa president, alangan, sundawo man ta, mosunod gyud ta,” Samsam said.

But he said without it, many would suffer.

He said there is a possibility his medical assistance and scholarship programs for the poor but deserving students in his district will not be pursued. — (FREEMAN)
