Soc calls for inspection

CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Councilor Socrates Fernandez has suggested that the city engineering department inspect all public structures especially school buildings in the city for defects due to constant and heavy rains brought by typhoons Labuyo and Maring.

Fernandez said structures such as bridges, schools, and other government institutional buildings deteriorate and become damaged due to constant heavy rains.

“Prevention is far better than cure – thus this resolution urges the engineering office to inspect aforecited structures. These government structures like schools are concomitant necessity to our progress and sustainability,” Fernandez said, who is the chairman of the committee on public works and infrastructure.

Fernandez, in his proposed resolution, has asked Mayor Johnny delos Reyes “to approving our urgent injunction to Engr. Audie Bacasmas and his personnel to make ocular visits to our public structures.”

After the inspection, Fernandez said reports are expected anent defects of the public structures.

“After the approval of the Mayor, the Engineering personnel must act immediately and likewise will come to us for update of their inspection,” Fernandez said.  (FREEMAN)
