Taxi driver, 57, arrested for “rape” of neighbor, 5

CEBU, Philippines - The Investigation and Detective Management Branch (IDMB) of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) arrested yesterday a taxi driver for the alleged rape of a five-year-old neighbor.

Rene Amora, 57, of sitio Nawanao, barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City was arrested by a team led by PSr./Insp Jimmy Fortez on the strength of a warrant signed by Judge Sylva Aguirre of RTC Branch 28.

Amora allegedly committed the crime on the evening of March 26 as the girl came out of the comfort room after relieving herself, SPO3 Rowena Penaflor of the Women’s Desk of the Subangdaku police station said.

Amora allegedly took the girl to a poorly lighted area where he inserted his sex organ into her rectum.

The following day, the girl went down with a fever and then told her mother about the incident.

Penaflor said the mother came to Cebu to escape from her husband who had raped her daughter’s siblings, aged 6 and 9 years old.

Amora is now detained at the Subangdaku police station. (FREEMAN)
