CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City Mayor Jonas C. Cortes, who is the vice president for the Visayas of the League of Cities of the Philippines, said mayors should have a collective voice when requesting for projects and support from the national government.
In a talk with The Freeman at the Mactan Cebu International Airport, Cortes said his main concern now is to unite city mayors here for the good of Cebu.
Cortes said if mayors had a combined voice, it would be easier for the national government to grant their requests.
For starters, Mayor Johnny Delos Reyes of Talisay City has agreed to sign a sisterhood agreement with Mandaue.
“Kon duna ta’y gilagdaan nga sisterhood sa ubang lagyong mga dakbayan angayan lang usab tingali nga mismo sa atong silingan nga dakbayan maka lagda usab kita og sisterhood agreement,†said Mayor Cortes.
The mayor further said that the main purpose of a sisterhood pact is to share ideas and help each other especially during disasters and calamities. (FREEMAN)
