“Swindler” arrested
CEBU, Philippines - Bystanders in sitio Kamanggahan in barangay Tabok, Mandaue City Thursday morning a man who had switched a fake ring for a gold one.
Jaime Pingkian, 46, of Dauis, Bohol but temporarily residing in Poblacion Oriental in Consolacion town, was mauled after Francisca Cabigas, 50, shouted for help when she discovered her gold ring was replaced with a gold plated one.
She said the man and an alleged accomplice, later identified as David Pabalan, of Bohol, came to her house offering to repair any gold ring and promising to attach to it a diamond worth P5,000.
She said she saw her ring being melted but the ring turned over to her was not the one melted but a gold-plated one.
When she screamed for help, bystanders came.
Pingkian’s alleged accomplice fled.
Cabigas recovered her melted gold ring. (FREEMAN)
