CEBU, Philippines -  More than 300 patients from Subangdaku, Mandaue City availed of the two-day medical mission jointly conducted last weekend at the barangay hall by barangay Subangdaku, office of Congressman Luigi Quisumbing and Cebu Doctors’ College.

Last weekend more than 100 patients with warts and cysts availed of minor surgery performed by 13 surgeons belonging to the Philippine Academy of Dermatologic Surgery Foundation, Inc. They were also assisted by nursing students from the University of Cebu-Lapu-Lapu-Mandaue and barangay health workers.

The surgery was Quisumbing’s offering for his 34th birthday.

The sixth district congressman who stayed with the patients for quite some time recommended the referral of two patients to Vicente Sotto Medical Center for a complete examination before undergoing surgery.

According to Ralota Manatad, wife of barangay captian Ernie Manatad who organized the medical mission said the patients for surgery were pre-registered while those who availed of free check up were walk-in clients.

“This is an opportunity for us,” said Rochelle Ramos in the vernacular who had her asthma checked up.

The following day, personnel from CDC conducted free dental and ophthalmology services and free blood typing and CBS.

Barangay Captain Ernie Manatad thanked the partners for providing the answers to the health needs of his constituents.  (FREEMAN)
