Talisay now has almost 2,000 job order workers

CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City hall now has almost 2,000 job order workers in its employ but some of them have started working without punch cards.

Hazel Bathan, head of the human resources department, said the administration has endorsed 1,451 but only 1,358 of them have punch cards.

Workers without the cards are required to write their names in a log book.

Bathan said some job order workers endorsed by the administration have punch cards but their names do not appear in the master list.

Those who have no punch cards yet are assigned at the slaughterhouse and to the garbage collection unit.

Bathan said every city councilor has 50 quotas each. The first group of JOs was hired between July 1 and July 15.

The number of these workers is expected to increase because the seven opposition councilors, the ex-officio, and the SK Federation president, who have 50 quotas each, have started to endorse workers.

JOs who work Monday to Friday will receive P300 per day.

Those who render work six days in a week will receive P253.84 a day while those who render work seven days a week, or without days off, will receive P220 per day.

All JOs are required to work 40 hours in a week. (FREEMAN)
