CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Mayor Johnny De los Reyes has granted executive functions to Vice Mayor Romeo Villarante and three administration councilors who belong to the minority in the city council.
De los Reyes issued separate executive orders to Villarante, Councilors Danilo Caballero, Valeriano Ylanan, and Aldin Diaz, giving them authority to supervise as representatives of the mayor in various departments.
In his executive order, De los Reyes designated the vice mayor to be his representative to the local school board, urban poor, and as supervisor of the city traffic board.
Caballero was designated co-chairman of the peace and order advisory council and chairman of the sports commission.
Diaz will act as the mayor’s representative in the tourism development council, local health board, and information department.
Ylanan, on the other hand, will act as administrator of the offices of the urban planning management and infrastructure planning development and administrator of the economic zoning and planning office.
At the city council, Ylanan was assigned as chairman of the committee on parks and playground and a member of the committee on infrastructure.
Caballero is the head of the committee on slaughter and market.
Diaz was assigned the committee on communication and information technology.
In the last council session, the members of the council appointed Councilor Richard Francis Aznar, who was chosen as majority floor leader, as chairman of the committees on health, hospital services and sanitation, laws, good governance, and city properties.
Councilor Socrates Fernandez heads the committee on public works and infrastructure, and social services and senior citizen.
Councilor Dennis Basillote and Edward Alesna, who are on their third and last terms, will keep the same committees they headed in the previous sanggunian.
Basillote is now head the committees on housing, urban poor rural development, and education while Alesna now chairs the committee on budget and appropriation, and public order.
Eduardo Gullas III heads the committee on family, women and children, and games and amusement and sports development.
Doroteo Emit chairs the committee on tourism, heritage and international affairs, and labor, trade and industry while Antonio Bacaltos chairs the committee on agriculture and environment.
ABC president Charles Basillote will be the chairman of the committee on barangay affairs and cooperative and people’s organizations while SKF president Carmel Jude Burlas will head the committee on youth development. (FREEMAN)
