Talisay police chief to form bicycle beat
CEBU, Philippines - Superintendent Elmer Lim, the officer-in-charge of Talisay City Police Station, plans to put some of his policemen on bicycles.
He said using bicycles at this time would be logical especially when the budget is tight for the reason that the operating cost can be kept at a minimum.
Aside from it, the police can penetrate the interior parts of any place without making a sound.
He said the police station already have five bicycles which were donated Thursday afternoon by the English Secondary Language School, a Korean school, in barangay Cansojong.
The donated bicycles came from Korea.
Lim hopes more kindhearted people will donate more bicycles.
Police officers will no longer walk while patrolling.
Beat patrol policemen on bicycles will wear their PNP athletic attire.
But Lim said his men on bicycles will buy uniforms when a budget becomes available.
He also said more than 10 police officers will be on bicycles. (FREEMAN)
