Good news for the elderly

Garry B. Lao - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Officers and chapter presidents of the Talisay City Federation of Senior Citizens Associations of the Philippines will soon enjoy an increase in their honorariums.

The Talisay City council has approved a proposed resolution, sponsored by City Councilor Celiapo A. Cabuenas, chairman of the committee on social welfare & services, with the difference of more than P1,000 in monthly honorarium.

“The officers and chapter presidents of the Talisay City Federation of Senior Citizens Associations of the Philippines, Inc. feel the urgent need to augment their daily finances to cope with the increasing prices of their daily basic needs especially their medicines,” Cabuenas said.

The president’s actual honorarium of P1,000 was adjusted to P4,000 while the vice-president with an actual honorarium of P1,000 was adjusted to P3,500.

The secretary and treasurer will now receive P3,330 while the auditor and the PRO will receive P2,500.

The 11 chapter presidents will now receive P2,000 from a P1,000 honorarium.

The increase in honorarium took effect last April.

Per Resolution No. 002-2013 adopted last March 1, 2013 by the Talisay City Federation of Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines, Inc., the following schedule was recommended and approved: The source of fund – the self & Social Enhancement Activities (P30,000.00); the Program Review & Evaluation Workshop (P80,000.00); Halad Sa Gugma Kay Lolo & Lola (P120,000.00); the elderly Pilipino Week (P30,000.00); and the seminar on Graceful Aging (P6,400.00), totaling P266,400.00.  (FREEMAN)
