CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Police Station officer-in-charge Superintendent Elmer Lim was thrilled when
Mayor-elect Johnny Delos Reyes dropped by his station the other day.
Lim said Delos Reyes just dropped by to meet the men and to know what the station needed.
Lim said Delos Reyes promised to come up with new handheld radios, recondition police cars, and most likely he will donate a car.
He said he told the mayor-elect the police need a new building because the old building in barangay Poblacion is small for a growing population.
The city has set aside a property at the city hall compound but he can’t tell yet which part of the lot would be donated to the police, Lim said.
Lim said the police need a 1,000-square meter lot where a standard city police station will be built.
If a lot has been donated, the national office of the Philippine National Police will allocate P5 million for the construction of a two-story police station.
The old city police station in barangay Poblacion will be turned into a sub-station if the project materializes. (FREEMAN)
