CEBU, Philippines - A 20-year-old woman was shot yesterday dawn in barangay Buaya in Lapu-Lapu City by one of three men on a motorcycle after she refused to give up her cellular phone.
Shot in the abdomen was Vera Christy Ybañez Berdin, 20, single, of Purok Saging, barangay Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City, a service crew member of McDonald’s Mactan Newtown branch in barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City.
SPO3 Federick Eslit and SPO1 Allan Pantaleon said Berdin had just emerged from her place of work at around 1:34 a.m. and was calling her boyfriend on her phone when three men on a motorcycle stopped in front of her and asked for her phone.
When she refused, one of the men shot her and then fled.
Berdin was taken to the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital.
Police found a slug at the crime scene. (FREEMAN)
