Compostela mayor plans to build port
CEBU, Philippines - Mayor-elect Joel Quiño of Compostela town will prioritize the construction of a port in a bid to attract investors and address the traffic problem.
In a talk with The Freeman, Quiño said he started planning for the construction of the municipal port last year yet, having consulted prospective investors who are willing to build the port on a Build Operate Transfer Scheme (BOT), Public and Private Partnership (PPP).
The mayor said he is also studying other options available to the town.
“Nangita kita ug mga paagi aron gayud matuman ang maong proyekto para sa kaayuhan sa atong lungsod ug ingon man makahatag ug dugang trabaho sa atong mga kaigsoonan sa Compostela,†Quiño said.
He said an investor has signified interest in putting up express lanes from Compostela to Camotes Island and from Compostela to Lapu-Lapu City.
He said workers from the Mactan Export Processing Zone and Mactan airport will benefit from this project.
Quiño also said lots are available for an export processing zone in the town. (FREEMAN)
