“Robber” arrested for gun possession
CEBU, Philippines - A man believed to be involved in a series of robberies in Metro Cebu was arrested by the Investigative and Detective Management Bureau after receiving a tip from residents in Upper Tingub, Mandaue City who saw him brandishing his gun outside his residence Wednesday afternoon.
Rey “Tootskie†Vicente, 30, is a native of Gingoog, Misamis Oriental and was staying at Upper Tingub when arrested.
Seized from Vicente were a .45 caliber pistol, 13 bullets, alleged shabu with a street value of P20,000, and a hand grenade.
PSr./Insp. Ramil Morpos said when Vicente saw the police approaching him, he tried to flee but eventually gave up.
Morpos believes Vicente could be involved in robberies.
“ I check pa ni namo kay there is a possibility nga involved siya considering nga naghupot siya ug armas and even a grenade nga mostly being used by robbery groups.
Charges of violation of the Comelec gun ban, illegal possession of firearms, and possession of illegal drugs will be filed against Vicente, currently detained at the Casuntingan police station. (FREEMAN)
