DepEd chooses Talisay HS for “e-classroom”

CEBU, Philippines -  Talisay City National High School yesterday received an “e-classroom package,” a nationwide computerization project of the Department of Education (DepEd).

Froila delos Santos, program and activity coordinator, said the school was chosen as one of the pilot public high schools of the program in the Visayas and Mindanao region.

As per the e-classroom package, each recipient school will be given an interactive whiteboard, an LCD projector, a multi-in-one printer, one high-end PC server with seven terminals, and software needed for classroom instruction.

The package includes teachers’ training on skills needed and required in the use of equipment and facilities.

“Our students as well as teachers will utilize high technology gadgets such as tablets, web cameras, and more for teaching and learning,” delos Santos said.

The e-classroom is an online-learning management system designed to help educators create online courses with opportunities for rich interaction.

It can also be described as teaching and learning within internet-based communities.

The e-classroom is suitable for 100 percent online classes and perfect for supplementing face-to-face learning.

Under the same package, recipient schools will provide computer laboratories as their counterpart.  (FREEMAN)
