Mandaue takes another look at CCTV cameras

Flor Z. Perolina - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City government is again checking the specifications of the CCTV cameras the city plans to purchase for P1.7 million.

Earlier, the city government planned to purchase 36 cameras for the public market alone.

The purchase of the cameras had already undergone the pre-bidding process with the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC).

However, city administrator James Abadia said the city has to reexamine the specifications of the cameras after hearing reports that the latest models of these cameras can record clearly, unlike the older models the footages of which are hazy.

Abadia said the security cameras are expensive but the city is bent on acquiring these surveillance cameras because these are a necessity for the public market.

“We will push through with the project. We are just checking the price tag,” Abadia said. (FREEMAN)
