Alleged rapist arrested
CEBU, Philippines - Police arrested yesterday an alleged rapist while tending his sari-sari store in sitio Soong II in barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City.
Trisikad driver Dioscoro Igoy, 54, was picked up only after the police were convinced it was really him that his alleged victim, a 20-year-old student, had positively identified.
A tattoo on his right arm gave him away.
The student was allegedly raped October last year.
The team led by SPO3 Danilo Aying had pretended to be customers and bought cigarettes from Igoy’s store just to make sure it was him they were looking for.
The student’s parents thanked the police.
According to the student, she was on her way home when a man forced her at knifepoint to get into Igoy’s trisikad.
Igoy is now detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office holding cell. (FREEMAN)
