Fire destroys two houses in Lapu-Lapu

CEBU, Philippines - A lighted cigarette tossed at rags started a fire that eventually destroyed two houses fronting the house of Mayor Paz Radaza in barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday dawn.

The houses were owned by Rogelio Soronio and neighbor Lito Casio.

As alleged by witnesses, a boy was smoking as he passed by the houses and flipped his cigarette at a pile of rags.

Firefighters were at the scene in no time at all, the substation just being a few meters away.

Damage was placed at P 80,000. (FREEMAN)
