Bucao slams Alcoseba

CEBU, Philippines -  Talisay City Vice Mayor Alan Bucao, the city council presiding officer, questioned the motives of Cebu City Councilor Raul “Yayoy” Alcoseba who has offered free education to a nine-year-old girl who saved her younger brother from a fire that destroyed their house and four others last week.

In yesterday’s council session, the city council approved a resolution recognizing Rhea Tisoy, who saved her 1 year old brother Rayven who was sleeping in the living room when the fire broke out in their house in sitio Hanod in barangay Bulacao, for her bravery and heroism.

Rhea tried to save 3-year-old cousin Mark Lester but was met by flames when she tried to enter the room where the boy was playing with his twin brother Mark Anthony, who was rescued by another family member.

Upon learning of the courage and heroism of Rhea, Alcoseba immediately extended full scholarship to her at Southwestern University.

Rhea, a grade 3 pupil of Bulacao Elementary School, will be enrolled next year in SWU’s Basak Campus.

“Okay mana ang iyang gibuhat nga pagtabang pero nganong karon pa man? Why only now? Sa una, naay lunop, naay landslide, asa man siya?” Bucao said.

Bucao hopes that what the councilor action will continue even after election.

Alcoseba, who is a candidate for the position of Provincial Board member in the 1st district, which includes Talisay City, has said his help is one way of recognizing her courage and sense of loyalty. (FREEMAN)
