Radio equipment for Talisay police

Garry B. Lao - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Vice Mayor Alan Bucao, who is the chairman of the committee on public safety, plans to purchase radio equipment for the Philippine National Police-Talisay City police station.

“The City of Talisay Police Department needs to technically upgrade its present communication setup in order to have a faster and more efficient flow of information whenever needed,” Bucao said in his proposed resolution.

If the city council approves the proposal, Bucao will ask Mayor Socrates Fernandez to purchase a VHF/FM radio repeater system, a VHF/FM radio transceiver base and 10 portable VHF/FM transceivers.

According to Bucao, the city police department, being the element of peace and order, is mandated to combat violence and promote peaceful atmosphere in the city.

“Upgrading communication system and obtaining additional handheld radio communication is one way of giving wider capacity of extending basic services to our constituents, improve and beef up the day to day operations especially during emergency calls,” he said.  (FREEMAN)
