Talisay cops’ guns sealed

Garry B. Lao - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The muzzles of more than 50 service firearms of police personnel of the Philippine National Police in Talisay City were simultaneously sealed yesterday with tape.

Talisay City police chief Superintendent Eddie Recamara, who is facing a suspension order issued by the Police Regional Office but remains at his post for the meantime, said firearms are taped to ensure that officers do not fire them indiscriminately to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Recamara said he has to sign the seal on the guns, and will be checked by the end of the celebration.

The PNP enjoined both policemen and residents to welcome the Christmas and New Year with merriment without the use of guns.  (FREEMAN)
