CEBU, Philippines - For this yuletide season, traffic enforcers in Talisay City are discouraged from skipping work, and told to refrain from leaving their posts until their relievers have showed up.
Gerard Lariego of the City of Talisay-Traffic Operation Development Authority (CT-TODA) said absences upset plans.
The city has 66 enforcers are divided into groups, each group assigned to a shift daily.
The first shift starts from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. while the second shift begins at 1:00 p.m. and stretches until 8:00 p.m.
Last week, the enforcers were sent to N. Bacalso Road and Sangi Road in barangay Tabunok.
Lariego said enforcers were assigned to the newly opened department store in sitio Laray, San Roque at the Cebu South Coastal Road.
Presently, traffic flows smoothly but in the next few days traffic is expected to build up when people begin to shop, he said.
At this time, traffic at the national highway will likely swell, too, Larriego said. (FREEMAN)
