Talisay VM has idea to ease traffic

CEBU, Philippines -  Talisay City Vice Mayor Alan Bucao, who is the chairman of the committee on public order, safety, traffic management and public utilities, wishes, through an approved resolution, to designate a loading-unloading area in one of the establishments in barangay Tabunok. The move aims to put order in passenger loading and unloading zones along city roads during specific times of the day.

The resolution asks the Gaisano Fiesta Mall in Tabunok, through Ms. Genevieve Gaisano-Go, to allow the City of Talisay Traffic Operations and Development Authority (CT-TODA) in coordination with the Second Engineering District, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to construct a pocket loading and unloading area using part of its parking area.  If the management grants its request, Bucao said drivers will be told to strictly observe the loading and unloading areas.

“The Sangguniang Panlungsod as the legislative body of the city is authorized to approve ordinances which shall ensure the efficient and effective delivery of the basic services and facilities and one of the additions to this is to regulate traffic on all streets and bridges; prohibit encroachments or obstacles thereon and, when necessary in the interest of public welfare, authorize the removal of encroachments and illegal constructions in public places,” he said.
