PUJ driver shot; illegal drugs eyed
CEBU, Philippines - A jeepney driver who is alleged to be a drug user was shot and wounded yesterday dawn at sitio Riverside, barangay Cansojong, Talisay City.
Cepriano Mariquit, 36, of barangay Pit-os, Talamban, Cebu City sustained a gunshot wound on the back of his body.
He was taken to the Talisay City District Hospital by village watchmen but transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
Two of three suspects were identified by the police as Lantoy Pogoy Constantino, 24, of sitio Sambagan, barangay Tanke and Ritchie Daan, 25, who resides also in the same barangay.
SPO4 Daniel Tarucan said the motive for the shooting could be attributed to illegal drugs and to stolen motorcycles.
Police found in Mariquit’s possession a motorcycle registration belonging to someone from Danao City.
Tarucan said Constantino was allegedly involved in robbery and shooting incidents in Talisay while Daan was allegedly involved in robberies. (FREEMAN)
