CEBU, Philippines — Pulpogan swept Nangka in their best-of-three finals with a 107-100 victory in Game 2 to lift the championship trophy in seniors division of the 14th Mayor Teresa “Nene” P. Alegado Cup Fiesta Basketball League in Consolacion, Cebu.
JC Escalona exploded for 26 points for Pulpogan, which dictated the pace of the match since taking an early seven-point edge, 35-28.
Pulpogan further caught fire in the second period where it unleashed a searing 34-22 run to stretch its lead to 19 points, 69-50, at the break.
Pulpogan maintained its double-digit advantage for most of the way before warding off a spirited endgame fightback by Nangka to walk away with a resounding seven-point victory.
Rexon Moneva also figured prominently for Pulpogan with 17 points while Cris Perolino chipped in with 10 markers.
Danilo Ponce dropped a game-high 29 points for Nangka. Romar Ponce sizzled with 23 points while Benson Culango tossed in 15 points in a losing cause. — (FREEMAN)
