CEBU, Philippines — Everything is already in place for the Galaxy Watch Cebu Half Marathon that is poised to captivate Cebuano runners on November 24 starting and ending at the City Di Mare passing through the iconic Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX).
Runrio CEO and founder Rio de la Cruz said the event they are organizing will also mark the launch of the Philippine Half Series, a nationwide race initiative set to debut next year.
With Cebu’s growing enthusiasm for running, the half marathon distance is a perfect fit for the local community.
“We believe Cebu’s running community is more than ready for this challenge,” said De la Cruz in a press conference recently at CDM. “The city has seen a surge in races, and the enthusiasm of local runners is undeniable.”
The race features three categories:5K, 10K, and 21K with registration fees ranging from P1,600 to P2,600.
Participants will receive race gear, post-race refreshments, and freebies from corporate sponsors.
A key highlight of the long-distance run is its scenic route across the breath-taking CCLEX, offering runners the chance to experience one of Cebu’s most stunning landmarks.
Runrio is dedicated to making the event both challenging and enjoyable.
In collaboration with the CCLEX management ld by its president and general manager Allan Alfon, the organizers aim to minimize disruptions and ensure a smooth race experience, with strategically placed garbage bins to maintain a clean route.
More importantly, the half marathon is a celebration of Cebu’s vibrant running culture and a platform for global recognition anchored on Runrio’s long-term goal to attract elite international runners in the future. With the backing of the Department of Tourism, they want to position it as a major sports tourism showcase.
