CEBU, Philippines — Rising Boholana lifter Samantha Nicole Podot pocketed three gold medals for Central Visayas in the women’s weightlifting Under 77kg category of the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) National Games 2024 in Legaspi City, Albay.
The 19-year-old Podot lifted a tournament-best 55 kilograms in the snatch and 65 kilograms in the clean and jerk for a total of 120 kilograms that earned her a golden treble.
Podot, a first year BS Medical Technology student of Holy Name University (HNU) in her hometown of Tagbilaran City, trains alongside Vanessa Sarno, one of the country’s representatives to the hotly anticipated Paris Olympics set to kick off on July 26.
The daughter of PMI Bohol Boxing chief Atty. Floriezyl Echavez Podot yearns to walk down that kind of path someday.
