Down Under Promotions commits to uniting sports across borders

CEBU, Philippines — Driven by its ardent desire to unite sports across borders anchored on a genuine grassroots program, Down Under Promotions Sports and Events based in Sydney, Australia has forged a meaningful partnership with the Australian Chinese Basketball Association (ACBA) and the National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) in the Philippines.

“We stand firm in our unwavering commitment to uniting sports across borders. Our recent partnership with ACBA and the NCRAA exemplifies our dedication to enhancing the global sports landscape,” said Down Under Promotions chairman Julius Escobar.

As an offshoot of their tie-up, Escobar said they’re flying in the NCRAA Season 29 champion Immaculada Concepcion College (ICC) Blue Hawks senior men’s basketball team for the ACBA Easter Classic slated from March 27 to April 3 in Sydney.

During the eight-day tilt, the Pinoy cagers under the guidance of coach Ogie Gumatay, a former PBA player, will strut their wares against seven other teams that include five from New South Wales, one from Malaysia, and one from Africa.

“The ACBA tournament has long been a symbol of athleticism and multicultural exchange within mainland Australia,” said Escobar. “Our collaboration has opened doors for esteemed teams like the ICC Blue Hawks, fostering camaraderie and individual player development while elevating the competition to unprecedented heights.”

In taking the cudgels for this worthwhile undertaking, Escobar said they are fueled by their collective passion for sports and a vision to elevate Filipino athletics onto the global stage.

“We aim to ignite the fervor of Filipino hoop enthusiasts while nurturing the next generation of sporting heroes. Development serves as the cornerstone of athletic excellence, shaping young athletes imbued with character, discipline, and a sense of camaraderie,” Escobar furthered.

“Together, we are opening the gateway of sports wider than ever before. Through collaboration with organizations like ACBA and NCRAA, we are building bridges, cultivating talents, and shaping the future of sports on a global scale.”

Guided by this principle, it’s the very reason why Down Under Promotions is also backing up the Batang Pilipino basketball League (BPBL).

“We support the BPBL, offering a unique opportunity to improve grassroots basketball in the Philippines, with the potential for international collaboration and exposure.
