Asian Supercup winter league: Five USC Baby Warriors to see action in Korea
CEBU, Philippines — Five players of the University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) brace for a hardcourt experience of a lifetime as they bring their act on foreign shores via the Asian Basketball Club Tournament (ABCT) 2024 Supercup Winter League on February 15-18 in Hongcheon, South Korea.
They are Kristian Niño Sala, Zach Xavier Natividad, Gabriel Ocaña, Kyrie Franz Dysam, and Chris Liam Ybañez.
The Baby Warriors will form part of the Heart of Basketball Academy Sports Club of Singapore that will be competing in the Under 15 category of the four-day league that draws participation from at least 12 countries including host Korea, Philippines, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Chinese-Taipei.
The young but promising Carolinian ballers will strut their wares under the guidance of Cebuano coach Franz Dysam, a former star guard of Letran Knights during his prime in the NCAA.
The ABCT, previously recognized as the Kobla Cup and organized by the Korean Federation in the Philippines, is a dynamic sporting event with a multi-faceted purpose, serving as a catalyst for cultivating sportsmanship, teamwork, and an unwavering competitive spirit among young athletes across various age groups.
Its primary objective is to promote and celebrate the sport of basketball while fostering cultural exchange and friendship among young athletes from different nations. — (FREEMAN)
