EGS basketball team to strut wares in Toledo

CEBU, Philippines —  After taking the second runner-up honors in the 2023 Balamban Fiesta Cup, the multi-titled EGS basketball team of Cebuano sports patron Wilson Bas Villanueva will again strut their wares on the hardcourt.

This time against the host Toledo City-Good Shepherd in an exhibition game scheduled at 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 10, at the city’s Megadome located in Barangay Sangi.

Under the guidance of top caliber coach Edsel Say Vallena, EGS will parade an army of former collegiate standouts in Matt Flores, Mac Racho, Joseph Cabahug, James Ferraren, Tristan Albina, Froilan Mangubat, Justine Dacalos, and John Carl “JC” Escalona.

EGS though is expected to face tough challenge against Good Shepherd of vice mayor Jay Sigue, who will be led by Jojo Tangkay, Joshua de la Cerna, John Abad and Rino Berame among others.

In the other commercial match-up, the GRFX Pacifictel of Jaime Sanchez will go up against K and L Marketing of Kimberly Algoso.

Pacifictel will be bannered by Bernie Bregondo, Jiesel Tarrosa, and Jayson Balabag, while K and L will rely heavily on Tansiong Bonganciso, Vincent Menguito, and former CESAFI MVPs Jaybie Mantilla and Shaq Imperial. – EBV
