Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu City government thru its sports commission supports the staging of the Active Woman Empowered Duathlon on May 21, 2023 at the South Road Properties.

Although organized by the Active Woman’s group, the event is actually open to both male and female athletes.

Councilor Donaldo Hontiveros and ex-officio councilor, SK Federation chairman Jessica Resch, graced the recent press conference for the event at SM Seaside City as a show of support.

The city government is promoting sports tourism at the SRP which include the upcoming duathlon race.

The race will be classified into two–beginners and elite.

The beginners will have three age groups for both male and female participants–16-29, 30-39 and 40 and above years old.

There will also be an open relay and mountain bike open.

The beginners will be starting off with a five-kilometer run followed by a 20-kilometer bike and finish off with a 3-km run.

The elites, on the other hand, will have 10 kilometers for the first run then proceed with a 40-km bike and end with a five-kilometer run.

For the elite and mountain bike categories, each will have the top 3 winners for both male and female divisions.

Organizers are allowing drafting on the bike but with extreme caution.

A timing system will be used and those without race bib will not be allowed to race.

For those interested to join, one can register via https://tinyurl.com/EmpoweredDuathlonCebuCity

Race kits are nontransferable and when a participant uses a race bib registered to a different participant, both participants will be disqualified and may be banned from other races spearheaded by the organizer.
