CEBU, Philippines — The WeCare Non Medical Transport escaped past Lord Vincent by the narrowest of margins, 97-96, at the start of the Amicis Basketball League (ABL) Season 3 over the weekend at the Consolacion covered court.
WeCare, owned and managed by the US-based Cebuano couple Romeo “Junix” and Haezyl Jeraldine Flores, squandered a double-digit lead at halftime, 47-36, but recovered in time to hang on to a hairline victory.
Larry Malagar exploded for 38 points, while Regie Gabato and Jeme Matbagon finished with 20 combined points for WeCare.
Megs Migabon scored 25 points for Lord Vincent while Rocky Laurito and June Real Bonel tallied 14 and 11 markers, respectively, in a losing effort.
On the other hand, Franie Suson sizzled with 21 points to power the Amigos past the Prayboys, 115-99. Suson was ably backed up by Harold Javier with 18 points and Christian Conde with 12 points.
The Amigos led by only four after three quarters, 81-77, but closed the match with a 34-22 bang to come up with a 16-point romp.
In the other results, YYBC bested the Golden Eagles, 75-64, while Lodi Pitmalu spanked Level Up Poker, 88-78.
Danilo Ponce paced YYBC with 17 points while Juden Condeman and Michael Adulfo added 15 points apiece.
Jery Ceniza and Werdy Lopez connived for 35 points while EJ Conahap tossed in 13 points for Lodi Pitmalu. — EBV
